A: Did you get home safely yesterday? We got trashed last night.
어제 잘 들어갔어? 우리 어젯밤에 진짜 많이 마셨어.

B: I know, I have a bad hangover. Are you all right?
맞아, 숙취가 장난이 아니야. 넌 괜찮아?

A: Man, I have a headache and my stomach is upset, too.

Dialogue 주요 표현

 

Alcohol can make people loosen up and more relaxed. When people are drunk, they are more likely
to express(reveal) their true feelings. We are not as careful about what we say when we are drunk.
This can be good or bad.

safe = you = condition = 안전한 ‘너’상태를 의미

Did you get/arrive home safe and sound (= safely)?

drunken (형용사 명사 수식 e .g., drunken tiger/driver (= drunk tiger/driver)

bad (= terrible) hangover 심한 숙취
- It’s the worst feeling to wake up with a bad hangover.
심한 숙취로 잠에서 깨는 건 진짜 최악의 느낌이야.

- Hangovers typically go away within 24 hours.
- Hangovers last about 24 hours.

Hangover Symptoms
have a + symptom (증상)이 있다/나다

- I have a headache and my stomach is upset (= stomachache).
머리도 아프고 속도 안 좋아.

- I have a stomachache/stomach pain after drinking.
술 마시고 나면 배가 아파.

- My stomach is upset, and I can’t stop going to the bathroom.
배가 아파서 자꾸 화장실에 가.

- I throw up. (= I vomit.)
나 토했어.

drink in moderation 술을 적당히 마시다
eat / do (it) in moderation
- Do all things in moderation!
- We should drink in moderation from now on.
우리 앞으로는 적당히 마셔야겠어.

- I only drink in moderation.

- It is hard for me to drink in moderation.
술을 적당히 마시는 건 나한테 어려운 일이야.

We should cut back/down on drinking/alcohol.

under the table (= very drunk) 만취하여
~보다 술이 더 세다
- I can drink David under the table.
- John drinks everyone under the table.
- Everyone is under the table.
- John really drinks like a fish.
- He drinks a lot but always seems sober.
